Course Content
Definition and scope of anthropology, areas of study, method; relation of anthropology to everyday life; the emergence of the first humans and modern humans, the evolution of the livelihoods of mankind; kinship systems and social organization, the emergence of political organizations, social stratification, gender, religion, language, individual and culture; Turkey and certain anthropologists from around the world. Their working areas.
Objectives of the Course
This course is an introduction to the main topics in the anthropology discipline. The development of anthropology as a social science, its relation to other social sciences, especially history, and its position in developing and developed countries, constitute the subject of this course. Cultural similarities and differences will be discussed by comparing the various human communities within the framework of the basic theories and paradigms of anthropology. With a holistic approach, the environment, language, ceremonies, symbolic systems and meanings, legends, tenses, religions, beliefs in supernatural powers, science and art, socialization process, family, marriage, kinship, gender, age and social groups, and the economic activities involving consumption the interaction with each other will be evaulated.
