Course Content
This course includes the concept of communication in understanding the patient and knowing oneself, the connections between thought-emotion-behavior, empathic (active) listening, how assertiveness, one of the basic human reactions, affects interpersonal relationships, the effect of expressing emotions with "I language" and "you language" on human relationships, the difference between professional and social relationships, therapeutic and non-therapeutic interview techniques in communication, and nursing approaches to patient behaviors that cause problems in some cases.
Objectives of the Course
The purpose of this course is to enable students to acquire effective communication skills in the nurse-patient relationship, to recognize therapeutic communication and basic counseling skills for psychological counseling and psychotherapeutic approaches from a multicultural and ethical perspective in the nurse-patient relationship, to examine psychosocial interventions, and to gain self-awareness about communication processes.
