Course Content
This course examines the adaptive reuse of existing buildings through both theoretical and practical perspectives. The reuse of industrial buildings, historical structures, and obsolete building stock is explored within the frameworks of sustainability, conservation, spatial transformation, and contemporary design approaches. Throughout the course, case studies from Türkiye and around the world are analyzed to evaluate adaptive reuse processes, design criteria, and implementation methods.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the theoretical background of adaptive reuse, analyze conservation and transformation processes, and develop new functional proposals for existing buildings.
