Measurement & Evaluation Methods

Student success in courses is determined by the impact of midterm exams and assignments, as well as end-of-semester exams and/or assignments, laboratory reports, short-term exams, and similar practices on the final grade, as determined by the relevant faculty members. The following grades are given for each course taken by students, along with their coefficients:

Score Range Grade Given Coefficient 90-100 A 4.0 85-89 A- 3.7 80-84 B+ 3.3 75-79 B 3.0 70-74 B- 2.7 65-69 C+ 2.3 60-64 C 2.0 55-59 C- 1.7 50-54 D+ 1.3 40-49 D 1.0 0-39 FF 0.0 0 FX 0 FG FF: Failed the exam. FX: Unable to take the exam due to absence, failed. FG: Failed to take the exam despite being eligible, failed. S= Satisfactory P= In Progress U= Unsatisfactory S grade: Given upon successful completion of courses that do not require letter grades. P grade: Given upon successful progress in thesis work. U grade: Given upon failure in courses and thesis work that do not require letter grades. S, P, U, and T grades are not included in grade point average calculations. To graduate from the master's program, the general weighted average grade must be at least 2.50, and for the doctoral program, it must be 3.00. The passing grade for master's programs is B-, and for doctoral programs, it is B. However, if the student completes the course requirements and achieves a general weighted average grade of at least 2.50 for the master's program and 3.00 for the doctoral program, C grades in master's programs and conditional pass grades of B- in doctoral programs are allowed. If a student's overall grade point average is below 2.50 for master's programs or below 3.00 for doctoral programs after completing the required course load, provided that the stipulated duration of study for the program is not exceeded, the student may retake previously taken and successfully completed courses to achieve the required graduation average. The number of exams or assignments, the format of exams or assignments, and the attendance status of students in the course, as well as their participation in midterm and end-of-semester exams, and their contributions to the semester's letter grade, are determined by the responsible faculty member and announced to students at the beginning of the semester. Students who fail a course or wish to improve their grade are given the opportunity to take a makeup exam. When aiming to improve their grade through a makeup exam, the higher grade between the end-of-term/year exam and the makeup exam is considered.
