Week Topics
1 Spelling and punctuation
2 Types of written expression: Article. General information about the article. Explanation of how to prepare and write an article. Reading various article samples. Preparation of an article on ""Development of language consciousness, language pollution and Atatürk's understanding of language"".
3 Types of written expression: Essay, criticism, joke and interview. Characteristics of these genres and analysing sample pieces.
4 Event writings: Story. Story examples from Turkish literature
5 Event writings: Novel. Definition, subject, elements and types of novel. Examples of novels from Turkish and world literature.
6 Emotion writings: Poetry. Reading examples of poems of some well-known poets in Turkish literature and gaining the pleasure of reading and listening to poetry.
7 Types of written expression related to daily life: Travel, memoir and diary. Reading and analysing sample pieces related to these genres.
8 Letter from written expression types. The relevance of the letter to daily life. How to do this type of correspondence via electronic mail. Reading sample letters of Turkish literature
9 Types of oral expression: Conference, symposium, congress and interview. Youth problems, the importance of love and tolerance, etc. Preparation of a conference sample.
10 Types of expression based on discussion: Panel, forum, open session. An open session on modernisation and secularism, democracy and republic etc.
11 Scientific research methods. Selecting and limiting the subject. Preparing an example of a plan and making a literature search accordingly.
12 Transcribing the results of the research. Referencing and footnote writing.
13 Introducing periodicals, books and encyclopaedias about language and culture
14 Utilisation of libraries. The function and importance of libraries in social life. Access to information in electronic environment.
