Course Content
Concepts and definitions; the Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution; fundamental information regarding the Ottoman Empire. The Tanzimat and Islahat Edicts; the First and Second Constitutional Eras; the Tripolitanian War. The Balkan Wars. World War I; the Armistice of Mudros. Mustafa Kemal Pasha's deployment to Anatolia. Rallies and congresses held in Anatolia. The Chamber of Deputies and the opening of the Parliament in Ankara. Military operations on the Eastern and Western fronts. The Law on the Commander-in-Chief. The Treaty of Lausanne; the abolition of the Sultanate and the Caliphate; the proclamation of the Republic.
Objectives of the Course
The aim is to analyze the historical developments underlying the history of the Turkish Revolution in terms of cause and effect, thereby establishing a foundation for understanding the stages that led to the Republic of Türkiye.
