Course Content
Introduction,Matter and Measurement. Atoms, Molecules and Ions. Stoichiometry: Calculations with Chemical Formulas and Equations. Oxidation-Reduction Reactions. Thermochemistry. Electronic Structure of Atoms. Periodic properties of the Elements. Basic Concepts of Chemical Bonding. Molecular Geometry and Bonding Theories. Gases. Intermolecular Forces, Liquids and Solids. Chemical Kinetics. Chemical Thermodynamics. Electrochemistry.
Objectives of the Course
The course aims to present a generalized overview of the major role of chemistry in the fields of engineering, technology and environment. Further, course aims to enhance the analytical thinking skills of the students. The students are expected to develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills in chemistry. This will enhance their cyclo-motor skills on the application of the chemistry through laboratory practices that is a part of the course.
