Preliminary Preparations. The Evolution of Major Programming Languages. Defining Syntax and Semantics. Lexical and Syntactic Analysis. Nouns, Bindings, and Domains. Data Types. Expressions and Assignment Statements. Expression-Level Control Structures. Subprograms. Implementing Subprograms. Abstract Data Types and Encapsulation Structures. Object-Oriented Programming Support. Concurrency. Exception Handling and Event Handling.
Objectives of the Course
To introduce the structures specific to programming languages, to demonstrate how programming languages work, and to lay the foundation for programming language design.
