Course Content
This course covers the concept of liability and an introduction to liability insurance; the subject matter, scope, coverage structure and exclusions of liability insurance; compulsory, voluntary, professional and business liability insurance; the public interest dimension of compulsory liability insurance and the Guarantee Account; Compulsory Motor Third-Party Liability Insurance; claims, indemnity and case analyses in motor third-party liability insurance; Compulsory Professional Liability Insurance for Medical Malpractice; disputes and case analyses in medical malpractice liability insurance; Compulsory Liability Insurance for Hazardous Substances and Hazardous Waste; Compulsory Liability Insurance for Liquefied Petroleum Gas; Compulsory Marine Pollution Liability Insurance for Coastal Facilities; Compulsory Liability Insurance for Private Security Services; compulsory financial liability insurance for electronic certificate service providers; Voluntary Financial Liability Insurance; Third-Party Liability Insurance; Employer's Liability Insurance; Product Liability Insurance; and the basic concepts, legislation, general conditions, practices and case analyses related to professional liability insurance.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the concept of liability within the relationship between insurance and law; to learn the subject matter, scope, coverage structure, exclusions and types of liability insurance; to evaluate the operation of compulsory and voluntary liability insurance, the role of the Guarantee Account, and claims and indemnity processes; and to examine compulsory motor third-party liability insurance, medical malpractice liability insurance, hazardous substances and hazardous waste liability insurance, liquefied petroleum gas liability insurance, marine pollution liability insurance for coastal facilities, private security liability insurance, voluntary financial liability, employer's liability, third-party liability, product liability and professional liability insurance through case studies.
