Course Content
This course covers the concepts of risk and insurance, the distinction between risk and uncertainty, the relationship between risk management and insurance, the historical development of insurance, the distinction between social insurance and private insurance, basic concepts used in insurance, fundamental principles of insurance, insurance contracts, regulatory, supervisory and supporting institutions in the insurance sector, the general structure of insurance companies, basic insurance processes, claims and indemnity procedures, reinsurance and alternative risk transfer methods, as well as current developments and main issues in Turkish and global insurance markets.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to provide students in the Department of Insurance and Social Security with fundamental knowledge of risk, insurance, social insurance, private insurance, insurance contracts, institutions in the insurance sector, the general structure of insurance companies, basic insurance processes, and the individual and social functions of insurance services.
