Course Content
Fundamental concepts of exercise physiology; energy systems during exercise; skeletal muscle responses to exercise; muscle fiber types; neuromuscular adaptations; cardiovascular and respiratory responses; maximal oxygen uptake and aerobic capacity; anaerobic capacity; hormonal and metabolic responses during exercise; thermoregulation and fluid–electrolyte balance; mechanisms of fatigue and recovery; adaptations to aerobic and resistance exercise; aging and exercise; sex-related physiological differences; exercise under different environmental conditions; physiological effects of exercise on metabolic and chronic diseases; exercise testing; and current research approaches in exercise physiology.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to examine physiological responses and adaptations to acute and chronic exercise at the cellular, molecular, and systemic levels; to develop students’ ability to evaluate changes in energy metabolism and the muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and nervous systems during exercise; and to interpret the physiological effects of different exercise modalities based on scientific evidence.
