Course Content
Scope and development of anthropology as a discipline, human biological diversity and evolution, the basis of physical anthropology and social/cultural anthropology distinction in anthropology, ethnography; The concept of culture and difficulties in defining culture, basic components of culture, emic and ethical interpretations of culture, cultural relativity, cultural processes and theories of anthropology.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to enable the student to learn what kind of science social anthropology is, its field of study, approaches and methods, and to understand different cultures by adopting the transcultural approach of anthropology.
