Course Content
The development of Health Sociology; Health, the concept of disease; Organization of health services; Organization of health services; Social position of women and sociology of the health body; Traditional, complementary and alternative medicine; Commodification of midwifery services and birth; Health and religion; Medicalization of society and daily life; Being a parent, fetal gender preference and its causes; Sociological examination of reproductive health services; Reflection of social inequalities in the field of health; Economic, regional, gender-based and ethnic inequalities; Social roles of midwives: Examination of the midwife profession from the perspective of the sociology of the medical profession.
Objectives of the Course
This course aims to provide students with knowledge about the sociology of health and to be able to evaluate the social determinants of health, health systems and problems experienced in the field of midwifery from a sociological perspective.
