Course Content
This course will examine psychoanalysis from several perspectives: 1- as a theory emphasizing the primary role of the unconscious in the workings of the human mind; 2- as an effort to understand psychopathology and to provide psychotherapeutic intervention; 3- as an approach to establishing the relationship between social and cultural phenomena and the human psyche. Psychoanalysis can be considered an endeavor spanning approximately 130 years. Since it is impossible to traverse this entire period in one go, the aim of this course is to spark curiosity about the concept of the unconscious by examining Sigmund Freud's texts and the concepts that have developed around them. It is hoped that this aim will also influence the approach to psychopathology and psychological intervention.
Objectives of the Course
Psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy theories will be explained with the stories of leading theorists in the historical process. It is aimed to gain a theoretical perspective on psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapies by emphasizing psycho-dynamic theories, basic concepts and technique.
