Course Content
What is science and how do children learn science?, scientific process skills, science programs and science teaching methods in preschool education, science and nature corner and science education materials, the role of educators, family and society in science education, evaluation in science education, science activity planning, material preparation and discussion, nature education, science activities in nature, education for sustainable development and field trips. Definition of mathematics, content. mathematics in daily life, principles and standards of mathematics, development of thought in children and development of mathematical thinking, pre-counting concepts and processes (classification, comparison, matching, differentiation, ordering and pattern), counting and numbers, graphs, geometry, measurement, data collection, problem solving (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), mathematical language, mathematics programs used for children in early childhood in the world, reviewing mathematics materials and developing mathematics materials.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to teach teacher candidates the importance of science and the nature of science and enviroment education, to provide the information about the basic concepts of science and nature, to introduce science education methods, to introduce outdoor education resources, and to provide deep understanding about education for sustainable development.
