Course Content
Information will be provided about the developmental characteristics of hospitalized children according to their age groups, their interests and needs, their mental states, the interaction between hospital staff, children and families, hospital preparatory education, diagnosis, treatment and preparation for surgery, preparation and implementation of activity plans such as games, music, art, drama, mathematics, stories, etc. for hospitalized children, interaction between hospital schools and terminally ill children, their families and staff. In order to provide the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained, students will carry out play and education activities in the pediatric wards of hospitals, with one week of observation and interview and three weeks of practice.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course; to introduce hospitals which are one of the work environments for early childhood education teacher candidates, gain the ability for accustoming children to the hospital environment. provide students competence to carry out educational and play activities for hospitalized children.
