Course Content
Autism Spectrum Disorder; basic skills for individuals with autism spectrum disorder; teaching basic skills in autism spectrum disorder; teaching matching skills, teaching classification skills, teaching basic imitation skills, teaching two-step imitation skills, teaching basic receptive language skills, teaching two-step receptive language skills, teaching joint attention skills, teaching expressive language skills; methods and techniques in teaching basic skills: teaching with discrete trials, teaching basic response, reinforcement, providing prompts, error correction.
Objectives of the Course
This lesson aims students to learn how to teach the following skills to children with autism: attention directing; understanding directives; imitating skills; matching and classifying skills; communication skills; play skills; learning choosing and preferring; joint attention; interaction with peers.
