Course Content
This course covers the speech mechanism, characteristics of vowels and consonants, the source–filter and resonance theories of speech production, harmonics and formants, supralaryngeal anatomy, perturbation and vowel space concepts, nasal sounds, and the McGurk effect. It also addresses the physical and biological aspects of speech and the influence of native language on perception.
Objectives of the Course
The objective of this course is to teach the speech mechanism and linguistic features of spoken language, and to examine the physical and biological dimensions of speech.
