Course Content
This course includes an overview of the audiology, basic information on the measurement and evaluation of hearing, the methods used and the basic issues of audiology from past to present.
Objectives of the Course
Within the scope of the course, students are provided with information about the basics of audiology and resources are created for the definition and applications of vocational / field courses.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week Topics
1 The anatomy of the auditory system is mentioned.
2 The physiology of the auditory system is mentioned.
3 Bone conduction mechanism is mentioned. The terms pure tone, audiometric zero and pure tone audiometry are explained.
4 Equipment used in hearing assessment are introduced to students. Types of headphones, stimulus methods, concepts in the audiogram are briefly mentioned.
5 Introduction to Hearing Examination: Ear examination, airway and bone pathway hearing thresholds concepts, diapason tests are explained
6 Creating an audiogram is taught. How to interpret the degree, configuration and type of hearing loss based on the audiogram is discussed.

9 Masking is explained. In which situations masking should be done and the terms audiological masking are mentioned.
10 In audiometric measurement, basic principles of masking for airway and bone are explained and applied.
11 Masking is attempted with audiogram samples.
12 Speech audiometry: Technique of audiometric measurement using human voice and basic principles of the test are explained. SRT, SDS, UCL, MCL concepts are explained. Application methods are explained.
13 The basic principles of speech audiometry masking are explained and applied.
14 The subjects learned are repeated and brought into a whole. Pure sound audiometry results and speech test results over the audiogram are compared to the mask needs and thresholds
15 Final exam
